SONY/ATV OPENS OFFICES IN ATLANTA
In recent news, Sony/ATV publishing company has opened a new office in Atlanta along with a new recording studio. With Atlanta considered to be the heart of hip hop, the new office location will likely lead to some great new music, and become a hub for up-and-coming artists.
TIDAL ANNOUNCES NEW FREE MEMBERSHIP TIER
On April 27th, the streaming service Tidal announced a new free membership tier. With this free subscription, consumers will be allowed to sign up and receive free access to various video content. This includes access to performances, documentaries, video conversations and spotlight videos.
SAUDI ARABIA BUYS $500 MIL STAKE IN LIVE NATION
The government of Saudi Arabia has acquired a huge stake in the live music company Live Nation. The purchase was for about $500 million dollars which is equal to a 5.7% stake in the company. Live Nation has taken a hit since the start of the coronavirus pandemic due to so much of the live entertainment industry being canceled. We don’t know what the Saudi Arabian government is planning to do to resurrect the company, but we look forward to seeing what happens.
UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP FORMS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LEGO GROUP
Universal Music Group recently formed a new partnership with The Lego Group. They are looking to combine music and Lego systems as a way to provide children with a new way to connect and creatively express themselves through music and interactive play. There will be more information later in the year.
MAC MILLER’S ‘K.I.D.S.’ IS NOW ON STREAMING PLATFORMS
Good news for all the fans of one of the greats Mac Miller, his infamous mixtape “K.I.D.S” will be available for streaming on all platforms. “K.I.D.S” was filled with hits, such as “Kool-Aid & Frozen Pizza” and “Nikes on My Feet.” With one of his most influential projects now streamable, his legacy will be able to live on for years to come.
