On April 8, news of Chynna Rogers’s passing began circulating social media. A rising talent at 25-years-old, fans and musicians alike began sharing memories about the late rapper.
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health ruled Rogers’s death as an accidental drug overdose in a statement to NBC News. In another statement to NBC News, Rogers’s family stated “Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.”
Born Chynna Rogers, the Philadelphia native first began her career in modeling at the age of 14 with Ford Models. While modeling, Rogers expressed an interest to work in the music industry. Her mentorship with A$AP Yams further escalated her interest in music, and in 2013, Rogers dropped her first couple of singles with “Selfie” and “Glen Coco.”
Chynna’s music often discussed themes of death and her struggles with opiate addiction which were referenced in her 2016 mixtape “Ninety.” Since then the rapper has amassed millions of plays throughout her career with singles like “seasonal depression” and “leo season.” The late artist’s last body of work was her 2019 EP, “in case i die first.”

Chynna deserved way more love. We need to make sure to give folks their flowers while they are here to see them. This hurts so bad cause I know she was fuckin next man. Her music and vision was raw as fuck.
