On October 19, Youth Radio’s Creating Healthy Everyday Foods (CHEF) will join area restaurants like Pican, Ozumo’s, Camber, and Luka’s Taproom for A Taste of Oakland. A Taste of Oakland showcases the food revolution that has established Oakland as a world class culinary destination. Tickets are available through East Bay Loop, and are your passport to sample more than 20 restaurants, including hot spots like Ozumo, Pican, Somar Bar, Make Westing, Hopscotch, Hawker Fare, Camber, Plum Bar, and many more. A portion of the proceeds benefit Youth Radio.
This event will also serve to debut Youth Radio’s monthly arts explosion, Bites and Beast, featuring delicious bites created by our youth interns from the CHEF program, and musical and spoken word performances by our amazingly talented youth!
CHEF is Youth Radio’s healthy foods program that provides students with an opportunity to develop restaurant food preparation and cooking skills and informed food choices. Youth interns receive hands on instruction in preparing accessible, nutritious foods by creating healthy snacks and meals daily for more than 150 young people each week. Through education and healthy choices, students cultivate a well functioning mind, body, and planet.
