WNBA star Candace Parker and her 11-year-old daughter, Lailaa, announced Tuesday they have joined the ownership team of the new National Women’s Soccer League team, Angel City Football Club. The ownership also includes Serena Williams and her 3-year-old daughter, Alexis Ohanian.

The new Los Angeles-based soccer team, founded by Julie Uhrman, won’t be part of the league until 2022.

“Lailaa and I are pumped,” Parker said in an Instagram post. “We are fans of @weareangelcity already!! Baby girl, you can do and be anything you want to be! Keep dreaming and Mommy’s right here with you.”

Natalie Portman and venture capitalist Kara Nortman helped found the team alongside Uhrman. Jessica Chastain, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner and Eva Longoria are also part of the team. Tennis legend Billie Jean King, her partner Ilana Kloss, James Cordon, joined the group later.
“On behalf of the NWSL and our member clubs, we are thrilled to officially welcome Angel City Football Club, and this exciting and committed ownership group, to the league,” NWSL commissioner, Lisa Baird said in a statement. “The soccer community in Southern California is filled with passionate fans of the game and I can’t wait to see them rally around their own team and help us continue to grow the NWSL.”
