Recently, I finally went to go see “Captain America the Winter Soldier” with my family and friends at Jack London Theaters. The movie was long but had a lot of action so it kept me awake the whole time. In the movie, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America lives quietly in Washington D.C. trying to adjust to the modern world after the tragic events in New York with The Avengers. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes mixed up in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening plot while fighting off assassins sent to silence him at every turn. Captain America and Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, The Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected enemy -The Winter Soldier.

Captain America was a very good movie. All of the action is exciting and top notch, well choreographed, and paced perfectly within the story. The early ship-raiding action sequence is great, brutal and surprisingly real. The Winter Soldier is terrifying. Every time he appears on camera, the movie actually warps from a tense political thriller/superhero flick into a horror movie. It was great. Captain America stands on its own, for the most part. It doesn’t try to set up a different Marvel movie. But it did have some down falls too. The Winter Soldier was not in it enough to be called “The Winter Soldier.” He was not even given enough context or purpose. The villain plot is overly complicated. But it does not ruin the movie.

Overall “Captain America the Winter Solider” is still a great thrill ride and a fun character story. The scene with “The Winter Soldier” is worth the price of the ticket alone. I suggest everyone go see this movie you will truly enjoy it.
