A crew of young health professionals visited Youth Radio on June 12th to speak on a Health Careers Panel for interns aspiring to pursue a career in health.
The panel shared experiences about working in their individual professions, which included experiences with the Alameda County Health Pipeline Project, Bay EMT, Alameda Family Services, and CA Pacific Medical Center.
Youth Radio Health Department interns, who are mostly high school-aged young adults, took the opportunity to ask the Panel questions about pursuing a career in Health. The Panel also gave jewels of advice about career-pursuing in general to help the interns prepare for their professional future.
Sammie, a health Research Consultant, particularly stressed the importance of networking when looking to establish a presence in a field.
Sammie stated, “Who you know gets you in the door, but what you know seals the deal.”
Attendees left the meeting with more knowledge about the future that they are working toward.
